My favorite part of Rome was the food. I have always loved Italian food, but there could be nothing better than Ristorante Agata E Romeo Caraccio’s Italian dishes. The entire menu was in Italian, but it didn’t stop me from guessing at choices and taking chances. One of the meals I had was tail of ox, but the Italian name was so beautiful who would have known. Some of my other favorite restaurants in Rome were Agata e Romeo, Dar Poeta, Romolo’s and La Pergola. My every meal was accompanied by the most perfect glass of wine. La Terrazza dell'Eden offered a spectacular roof top setting. Some nights I wished I could eat dinner twice just to have the chance to sample more options. If I had enjoyed any more of the cuisine, I might have needed to discover the fashion industry in Rome to replace my wardrobe that no longer fit. Cannolis, Tiramisu, Panettone, even the desserts were too die for.
The Hotel Trevi is where I called home for my week’s vacation to Rome. When selecting the hotel, I just couldn’t pass up the unique design of the building and the constant reminder that I wasn’t at home. Where else could you find a hotel with such incredible stone work as your welcome after a long day of sightseeing. The room wasn’t cheap, but the hotel is located in one the most exclusive areas of Rome. Without being a bed and breakfast, it provides the same warm charm and hospitality. Since my trip booking was a little last minute, I didn’t have a great deal of time to research where I wanted to visit while in Rome. The hotel provided all the tourist information I could have needed. Each morning I sipped my coffee and enjoyed a filling buffet breakfast as I perused the pamphlets deciding where I would be off to that afternoon.
Throughout the week I visited the Colosseum, Vatican City including the Museum, Piazza di Spagna, the Pantheon and a ton of churches. But who could leave Rome without a gondola ride around Venice. The setting was so romantic and I was so happy to have such a nice looking man as my captain. I was invited for dinner that evening, but declined. It would be an early start the next morning on my way back to the states. I only hoped I would someday be back.
